Does it work where there's no fibre coverage?+
Yes. Starlink uses low-orbit satellites, so it works in rural areas, farmhouses, isolated industrial units and farms that fibre and cable don't reach. The only real condition is a view of the sky: the dish needs a clear field towards the north, with no tall trees, roofs or hills inside its cone of view. A branch that's no trouble in winter can block the signal in summer once it's in full leaf, so in the initial survey we check the spot with the obstruction tool before fixing anything. If the best place is the roof or a mast is needed, that goes into the quote. Compared with traditional satellite, the difference you notice is latency: here video calls and remote working run normally. And if the site isn't viable, we tell you before selling you anything, which is cheaper for both of us.Do I need to buy the equipment myself?+
No need. We take care of everything: we buy the kit for you, handle the service sign-up and do the installation, and you get it up and running. That's what most people prefer, because it saves the hassle of choosing between hardware versions and subscription plans that change depending on usage and location. If you've already bought the kit, we'll install that too: in that case you only pay for the installation. And if you bought it a while ago and it never quite worked properly, the problem often isn't the hardware but where it's been put, so we check the location first before touching anything else. In all three cases the quote is fixed before we start, and we leave your internal network set up. Typically between 50 and 250 Mbps download with low latency, enough for remote working, video and video calls without dropouts. The exact figure depends on two factors you won't see in the advert: how congested your cell is (how many people in your area are connected at that time) and how clear the sky is from the dish. That's why the speed on a Tuesday at eleven isn't the same as on a Sunday afternoon. Upload is more modest than download, which matters if you need to upload large files or run several live cameras. We measure it when the installation is finished and give you the figure in writing, so you know your starting point. That way you can compare later if you think it's dropped, rather than arguing from memory.Is it suitable for businesses, building sites or events?+
Yes, and that's where it really comes into its own. It works well in isolated industrial units, building sites, farms and temporary events, as the main connection where there's nothing else or as a backup line where the existing one drops out too often. The backup case is the most interesting for a business: with a dual-WAN router, if the main line fails, traffic switches over to Starlink automatically and the till, card terminal and email keep working. An afternoon unable to take payments costs more than the monthly fee. For building sites and events, the advantage is that it's quick to set up and take down and doesn't depend on a provider running a line. We'll tell you which kit and plan suit each case, and if it's temporary we'll leave it ready for you to take down and put back up yourself.How much does it cost to install Starlink?+
It depends on three things: the kit (there's a residential version and a business version, at very different prices), the subscription you need for your usage, and the installation itself. That last one varies the most: a dish in an open garden doesn't cost the same as one on the roof of a farmhouse, with a mast, anchors, twenty metres of cable and a hole through the wall. As a guide, installation starts at €350 and the Standard kit costs €419, both excluding VAT; the monthly subscription is separate, in your name. We fix the exact installation figure after seeing the location, because without seeing it we'd be making it up. What we do is look at the site, check for obstructions and give you a fixed quote covering hardware, sign-up and installation, with no open-ended items. The diagnosis and quote are free.
